The Vestini were an Italic people of the central Apennines whose bronze coinage was produced during the period of Roman consolidation across the peninsula — a process that would eventually absorb them entirely. Their aes grave issues, cast rather than struck, reflect a monetary tradition rooted in central Italian weight standards before Roman normalization swept those away. The biunx, representing two-twelfths of the as, occupied an awkward denominational position that few mints bothered to produce in quantity.
