| Obverse description | Draped bust of Emperor Menelik II facing right, wearing an ornate imperial crown adorned with decorative elements. The emperor is depicted in formal regalia with a draped garment visible at the truncation. A circular Ge'ez legend surrounds the effigy, reading 'Menelik II, King of Kings of Ethiopia' with the Ethiopian calendar year 1889 (EC) inscribed at the base of the portrait. The entire design is enclosed within a finely executed beaded border. |
