| Reverse description | Central field bearing multiple horizontal lines of Arabic Kufic inscription, arranged in the standard Islamic format across the flan. The legends, partially legible through heavy wear and patination, are consistent with typical Saffarid dirham reverses bearing Quranic text and mint or date information. The hammered flan shows irregular edges and a slightly concave surface, with a crack visible at the left rim. The dark brown and olive patina with green encrustations covers much of the field, obscuring fine detail of the script. |
