Obverse description Within a beaded circle, the mint letter 'A' for Goa rendered in a stylized, calligraphic form occupying the central field. The character is enclosed within a rectangular cartouche-like outline, typical of early Portuguese colonial coinage produced at the Goa mint. The surrounding beaded border frames the design against a plain field. The crude, hand-struck execution reflects the hammered technique characteristic of this issue.

Reverse description An armillary sphere rendered in the central field, depicted with horizontal bands crossed by diagonal arcs, representing the celestial globe — a dynastic emblem of King Manuel I of Portugal. The sphere is enclosed within a beaded inner border and an outer beaded circle, the whole design exhibiting the irregular, roughly struck character typical of hammered copper coinage produced at the Goa mint in the early sixteenth century.
