Obverse description Central field displays the crowned Portuguese royal arms, depicting five shields arranged in a cross pattern with dots representing the quinas, enclosed within a plain border. The crowned shield is flanked by the mint letters G and A (for Goa) to the left and right respectively. A royal crown surmounts the shield at the top of the design. The overall style is characteristic of crude hammered coinage produced for colonial circulation in Portuguese India.
