| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Charles II facing left, rendered in a bold, somewhat crude style characteristic of Scottish copper coinage of the period. The effigy shows the king wearing a laurel wreath and a lightly draped shoulder, with the truncation of the bust visible at the coin's lower field. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, separated from the effigy by an inner border. The overall design reflects the work of the Edinburgh Mint engravers of the Restoration era. |
