| Obverse description | Central device features the crowned shield of Solothurn — a plain lower field surmounted by vertically lined upper half — set within an ornate cartouche flanked by laurel branches, the whole enclosed by a beaded inner border. The canton's initials 'S' and 'O' appear to either side of the shield in the field. The circular legend 'CANTON SOLOTHURN' runs along the upper periphery, separated by small rosette stops, with the date '1811' prominently displayed in the lower exergue below a horizontal rule. |
