Romania's 1888 coinage patterns were produced as the State Mint evaluated designs and specifications ahead of regular production runs, and the 1 Ban copper pattern sits squarely in that experimental phase under Carol I's reign. The reference Stamb#39.1.1 places this among a small documented group of pattern strikes, almost certainly made in very limited numbers for official examination rather than public release.
