Obverse description Plain Latin cross centered within a beaded or linear inner circle, occupying the full field. The abbreviated ducal legend F F D V (Franciscus Foscari Dux Venetiarum) is distributed in the four quarters formed by the arms of the cross. The design is characteristic of the small billon coinage struck for Venetian-controlled Brescia, executed in the crude, flat-relief style typical of hammered piccoli of this period.
