Obverse description Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic Kufic-style inscription arranged within an inner circle, reading the ruler's name and title: al-Amir Khalaf ibn Nasr. A small ornamental rosette or pellet device appears above the central legend. The field is undecorated save for scattered pellet ornaments. A marginal legend in Arabic script runs within the outer annulus, partially visible on the irregular flan. The coin is struck on a broad, irregular hammered flan with characteristic flat relief typical of late Saffarid coinage.
