| Reverse description | Hammered gold flan bearing the Shi'a kalima and the names of the Twelve Imams in bold nasta'liq script arranged in multiple horizontal registers across the field, enclosed within a beaded border. The upper register contains the shahada 'La ilaha ill Allah, Muhammad rasul Allah' (There is no god but God, Muhammad is the messenger of God), followed by 'Ali wali Allah' (Ali is the friend of God). The remaining registers enumerate the names of the Twelve Imams of Twelver Shi'ism: Ali, Hasan, Husayn, Ali, Muhammad, Ja'far, Musa, Ali, Muhammad, Ali, Hasan, and Muhammad, reflecting the distinctly Shi'a character of Safavid coinage. |
