| Obverse description | The obverse bears three horizontal registers of bold Nastaliq calligraphy filling the entire field, separated by incuse double-line dividers. The uppermost register carries a portion of the royal couplet, the broad central band prominently displays the regal title and name of Amjad Ali Shah, and the lower register continues the Persian verse. Decorative dot or pellet ornaments punctuate the field between letterforms. The inscription, rendered in deeply struck relief characteristic of Awadh hammered gold coinage, reads in full: 'Sikka zad bar sim wa zar az fazl-i Rabb Zul-Minan / Amjad Ali Shah Zaman.' |
