| Obverse description | Hammered gold flan bearing a multi-line Persian legend in elegant Nasta'liq calligraphic script, arranged in four horizontal registers across the field. The central inscription proclaims the royal mint declaration attributing the striking of this coin to divine favor and identifying the issuer as Abbas III, styled 'Thani Sahib-Qiran.' The mint name Esfahan (Isfahan) and the AH date 1148 appear in the lower register. A dotted inner border runs along the right edge of the coin, characteristic of Safavid hammered gold coinage of this period. |
