Obverse description Facing frontal lion's head rendered in bold relief, the mane framing the visage in a stylised archaic manner. The beast grips a dagger in its jaws, the blade oriented toward the left. The modeling is vigorous and primitive, consistent with the cast aes grave tradition of Central Italy, with deeply set eyes and a broadly rendered muzzle filling the field.
