| Reverse description | Central field bears a two-line Telugu legend reading 'విజయ' (Vijaya, meaning 'Victory'), rendered in bold, slightly stylized Telugu script characters arranged symmetrically within a plain raised circular border. The inscription fills the field in a compact, well-centered layout characteristic of small-denomination princely state coinage, with no additional ornamentation or exergual inscription. |

Pudukkottai was the only princely state in Madras Presidency to retain the right to strike its own coinage into the twentieth century, a privilege jealously maintained by its Tondaiman rulers through careful diplomacy with the British Raj. The Amman Cash series was tied to local religious and commercial custom rather than British monetary policy, and the denomination itself — the cash — was a unit so small it had effectively disappeared from British Indian coinage by the mid-nineteenth century. Pudukkottai kept it alive for decades longer.
