Obverse description Two nimbed saints, Saints Protasius and Gervasius, depicted standing full-length facing forward, each clad in long robes rendered in a Byzantine-influenced Gothic style. The figures are separated by a vertical inscription in the field between them. A circular legend in uncial Latin runs along the periphery, identifying both saints and the city of Milan.

Reverse description Saint Ambrose, patron and Archbishop of Milan, depicted standing full-length facing forward in full episcopal vestments including mitre and cope, with a nimbus behind his head. He is shown between two tall columns surmounted by decorative capitals, lending an architectural framing to the composition in a style characteristic of north Italian Gothic goldsmithing. A circular legend in uncial Latin runs along the periphery of the coin, identifying the saint.
