Obverse description Half-length facing figure of St. Peter, the patron saint of Trier, depicted in ecclesiastical vestments and holding his attributes. Below the figure, a shield bearing the two-fold impaled arms of the Archbishopric of Trier and the house of Leyen is displayed. The surrounding legend contains the titles of Archbishop Johann VI in Latin. The design is executed in the vigorous late-Renaissance hammered style typical of Rhenish ecclesiastical coinage of the mid-sixteenth century.
