| Obverse description | Central field features an ornate crowned royal cipher of Landgrave Charles of Hesse-Cassel, composed of interlaced letters rendered in elaborate baroque calligraphic style. The monogram is surmounted by a princely crown with arched elements and floral finials. Decorative foliate scrollwork flanks the cipher on both sides, filling the field in a symmetrical baroque arrangement. The entire design is contained within a plain inner circle bordered by a continuous beaded outer rim. |
