Obverse description Central device consists of the quartered royal arms of the Spanish Habsburgs — incorporating the castles of Castile, lions of León, the fess of Austria, and the fleur-de-lis of Burgundy — surmounted by an ornate crowned shield. The shield is flanked by the collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece hanging below. The entire design is executed in the late Renaissance hammered style, with the heraldic composition filling most of the coin's field. A circular Latin legend surrounds the device, reading the joint titles of Archdukes Albert and Isabella.
