Obverse description Central field features the national emblem of Afghanistan: a stylized mosque with a mihrab and minbar, flanked by two national flags on staffs, all set within a decorative arch surmounted by a large onion dome flanked by two smaller minarets. The emblem is enclosed by two sheaves of wheat tied at the base with a ribbon, which bears the Arabic-script legend 'افغانستان' (Afghanistan). Below the mosque, the Solar Hijri foundation year '١٢٩٨ هـ ش' (1298 SH) appears in the field. The design is rendered in a clean, low-relief style characteristic of modern circulation coinage.
