| Obverse description | The obverse field is entirely occupied by a three-line Persian poetic legend executed in elegant nastaliq script, divided by two horizontal ruled lines that create distinct registers across the flan. The upper register bears the opening hemistich glorifying the act of coinage, the central register carries the royal title and the name of Shah Tahmasp II, and the lower register records the mint name Qom (ضرب قم) and the AH regnal date 1144. The composition is framed by a continuous inner border of pellets following the irregular circumference of the hammered flan. The deeply struck, flowing calligraphy fills the field with no subsidiary ornamental devices, consistent with Safavid monetary convention. |
