Obverse description Central field occupied by a multi-line royal Persian legend in bold nasta'liq script, arranged in three horizontal registers divided by plain lines. The legend proclaims the royal title and epithet of Shah Tahmasb II, reading 'By the grace of God, the Sahib-Qiran struck this coin — Tahmasb the Second,' followed by the mint name Māzandarān and the AH regnal year 1138. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border running along the coin's irregular flan edge, characteristic of Safavid hammered coinage.
