| Obverse description | The obverse is entirely occupied by a multi-line Persian poetic legend in bold, fluid Nasta'liq script, disposed across the flan in two registers separated by a horizontal line. The upper register bears the opening hemistich of the royal mint verse, while the lower register continues with the royal titulature identifying the issuer as Sam, son of Sultan Husayn, and the mint name Tabriz. The deeply struck, raised lettering fills the irregular flan, with the characteristic dot ornaments punctuating the field between letter groups. The overall composition is typical of late Safavid pretender coinage, with no figural imagery and the entire design devoted to calligraphic proclamation of dynastic legitimacy. |
