| Reverse description | Circular hammered silver flan with the complete Shi'a kalima and the names of the Twelve Imams arranged in horizontal registers across the entire field in bold Nasta'liq script. The upper register bears the shahada 'la ilaha illa Allah, Muhammad rasul Allah, Ali wali Allah', followed in successive registers by the names of the Twelve Imams of Twelver Shi'ism: Ali, Hasan, Husayn, Ali, Muhammad, Ja'far, Musa, Ali, Muhammad, Ali, Hasan, and Muhammad. The dense calligraphic composition is framed by a plain rim, with the script nearly reaching the edge of the flan, consistent with Safavid abbasi coinage of the late seventeenth century. |
