| Obverse description | The obverse is divided horizontally by a prominent raised bar, a characteristic feature of Safavid abbasi coinage. Above the bar, bold nasta'liq script carries the royal dedicatory inscription identifying the coin as struck at Yerevan (Erevan) with the AH date 1052. Below the bar, the mint name 'Erevan' appears in large, deeply struck nasta'liq lettering within a plain round field, with floral or vegetal ornamental elements flanking the inscription. The entire design is executed in the vigorous, calligraphic hammered style typical of Safavid provincial minting. |
