Obverse description A multi-line Persian inscription in flowing nasta'liq calligraphy is contained within a raised inner octolobe cartouche occupying the central field. The inscription references the auspicious date of enthronement (AH 1150). Small decorative pellet or lozenge ornaments are interspersed within the cartouche. The flat surrounding field is plain, and the coin is bordered by a continuous beaded circle near the rim.

Reverse description Four horizontal lines of bold nasta'liq Persian calligraphy fill the central field, praising Nader Shah as sovereign of Iran and conqueror of the world, with the mint name Mashhad (ضرب مشهد) inscribed in the lower segment below a horizontal dividing line. Small lozenge and pellet ornaments are scattered throughout the legend as decorative dividers. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border that follows the irregular hammered flan.
