| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a bold, calligraphic Persian poetic legend in nasta'liq script, arranged in multiple registers separated by horizontal lines. The inscription reads a royal mint verse attributing the coin to Abbas II as the lord of auspicious conjunction (Sahib-Qiran), struck with divine favour. The mint name Qandahar and the AH date 1059 appear in the lower register. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, characteristic of hammered Safavid production, with floral ornaments punctuating the field. |
