| Reverse description | The reverse bears the Shi'a kalima in bold Nasta'liq script divided into two registers by a horizontal line bisecting the coin field. The upper register contains the first part of the shahada, 'La ilaha ill-Allah' (There is no god but God), while the lower register continues with 'Muhammad rasul Allah, Ali wali Allah' (Muhammad is the Messenger of God, Ali is the Friend of God), affirming the Twelver Shi'a creed standard on Safavid coinage. The legends are deeply struck in high relief against a plain, unadorned field. The inscription fills the entire flan in the characteristic Safavid style, with no rim beading or border present. |
