| Reverse description | The reverse displays the Shi'a Islamic declaration of faith rendered in bold Thuluth script across the coin's field, arranged in three horizontal lines within the characteristic Safavid cartouche format. The uppermost line reads the Shahada ('La ilaha illa Allah'), followed by 'Muhammad rasul Allah', and concluding with the Alid profession 'Ali wali Allah', affirming the Twelver Shi'a creed. The legends are deeply struck in high relief against a finely worked background, consistent with the artistic conventions of the Kashan mint under Abbas II. The flan exhibits the irregular edges and surface texture characteristic of hammered Safavid silver coinage of the mid-seventeenth century. |
