| Obverse description | Quartered shield of arms occupying the central field, the quarters displaying the heraldic charges of Bishop Martin of Schaumberg and the Bishopric of Eichstätt. The initials M and E flank the shield to left and right respectively, identifying the issuing bishop. The date is divided by the mint initial above the shield, reading 15·E·72 across the upper field. The design is rendered in the bold, somewhat crude style characteristic of late sixteenth-century hammered minor coinage. |
