Reverse description The reverse bears a nine-line Latin commemorative inscription filling the entire field, recording the birth and death details of Wilhelm Ludwig (Wilhelmus Ludovicus), Prince of Anhalt-Köthen. The text reads: WILH. L. IUS / LUDOVICUS D. C. P. / ANH. COM. ASC. PEC. / NAT. II. AUG. M.D.C. / XXXIIX. DEN. XIII. APR. / HOR. III. MER. M.DC. / LXV. VIXIT AN. XX / VI. MEN. VIII. D. / XIII. The inscription records his birth on 2 August 1638 and his death on 13 April 1665, noting that he lived 26 years, 8 months, and 13 days. The field is plain with no border ornament other than a fine milled edge.
