Reverse description Full-length frontal figure of Saint Rupert of Salzburg, the patron saint of the archbishopric, seated on a throne and vested in episcopal robes with a mitre upon his head. He holds a crozier in his right hand and a salt barrel — his traditional attribute — in his left. The figure is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The date appears in the upper field to the left of the saint. The surrounding Latin legend SANCTVS.RVDBERTVS.EPS.SALISB. identifies the saint as Bishop of Salzburg. The reverse is struck on the same square klippe flan, bordered by a rope-twist motif.
