| Obverse description | Central shield bearing a four-fold coat of arms of the Duchy of Liegnitz-Brieg, surmounted by three crested helmets. The armorial composition is rendered in the Baroque heraldic style typical of Silesian coinage of the mid-seventeenth century. A beaded inner circle frames the central device, with the ducal legend arranged around the circumference in Latin capital letters. |

| Reverse description | Six-line memorial inscription in Latin capital letters occupying the central field, recording the birth and death dates of Duke Ludwig IV. The text is contained within a beaded inner circle, with the legend CONSILIUM IEHOVAE STABIT ('The counsel of Jehovah shall stand') arranged around the outer circumference. The inscription records the duke's nativity on 19 April 1616 and his death on 24 November 1663, with a notation of his age of 47 years and 31 weeks. The reverse has the character of a memorial or obituary issue, consistent with the commemorative nature of this striking. |
