| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a large quartered heraldic shield bearing the arms of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel and associated territories, including rampant lions, a charging horse, and other dynastic quarterings, all rendered in the vigorous hammered style typical of early seventeenth-century German coinage. The shield is flanked by decorative mantling and surmounted by a helm with crest. A circular Latin legend runs along the full periphery within a beaded inner border, reading HENRICVS IVLIVS DG P EP HALB D BR E L, identifying the issuer as Heinrich Julius, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg and Prince-Bishop of Halberstadt. |
