| Obverse description | Central field displays a cruciform arrangement of four heraldic shields separated by a radiant star burst at the centre. The upper shield bears the quartered arms of Great Britain and France; the left shield displays the arms of Brunswick; the right shield bears the fleurs-de-lis of France; and the lower shield shows the Irish harp. The cross arrangement is surmounted at top and bottom by royal crowns. A beaded inner border frames the design, with a circular Latin legend running along the outer periphery. The denomination 1/8 is incorporated into the obverse legend. |

| Reverse description | Central field depicts the rearing horse of Hannover (the Saxon Steed) facing left in profile, rendered in high relief upon a plain groundline with small floral sprigs beneath its hooves. Below the groundline, the mintmaster initials R.H.C. and T.B. flank a small circular cartouche bearing the fractional denomination 1/8, with the additional initials H.C. and B. The surrounding circular Latin legend references George I's titles as Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg and his standing within the Holy Roman Empire, with the date 1718 incorporated into the legend. A beaded inner border frames the entire design. |
