Obverse description Central field features the crowned Hessian lion rampant displayed within an oval shield, the shield itself enclosed within an elaborate baroque cartouche with scrollwork and foliate ornaments. A large royal crown surmounts the oval shield above. The coin has no peripheral legend, the entire design being dominated by the armorial composition occupying the full flan.

Reverse description Five-line central inscription giving the denomination, date, and mintmaster's initials, arranged within the field without a frame. A peripheral Latin legend surrounds the central inscription, separated by a small decorative flower at the top. The layout is characteristic of Hessian fractional Thaler coinage of the mid-eighteenth century, with the mintmaster's initials L.R. appearing at the close of the inscription.
