Obverse description Draped bust of Eric of Lorraine facing left, set within a beaded inner circle. The bishop is depicted with a ruffled collar typical of early 17th-century ecclesiastical portraiture. The surrounding circular legend reads in Latin, identifying the issuer as bishop and count of Verdun. The portrait is rendered in a relatively crude hammered style characteristic of minor French ecclesiastical coinages of the period.
