Tristan da Cunha, the most remote permanently inhabited archipelago on earth, issues coins through Saint Helena but has no local economy in which they circulate — these pieces are produced entirely for the collector market. The 2022 Platinum Jubilee issue uses a gold-platinum alloy rather than standard crown gold, a deliberate compositional gesture toward the jubilee's name rather than any metallurgical necessity.
