Reverse description The reverse features a boldly sculpted composition depicting King Charles III in full coronation regalia — crowned, mantled, and bearing the orb — standing in right-facing profile alongside a rearing Welsh dragon rendered in high relief. The Latin motto DIRIGE DEUS GRESSUS MEOS arcs around the upper field, translating as 'God direct my steps.' The Roman numeral date MMXXIV appears in the lower exergue on a darkened panel. The engraver's initials JC are visible at lower left. The design is framed by a plain inner border against a deeply mirrored proof field.

Additional information

Tristan da Cunha is the most remote permanently inhabited island on Earth, sitting roughly 2,400 kilometres from the nearest landmass. Its coins are struck under licence and never circulate on the island — the territory uses the pound sterling in practice. This piece was issued early in Charles III's reign, before his coronation coinage had fully settled into a standardised programme across British Overseas Territories.
