| Obverse description | Central figure of a standing indigenous warrior depicted in full length, facing slightly left, holding a spear or lance in his left hand and a bow in his right, standing upon a ground line with a quiver of arrows at his feet. The legend ESTADO DE CHIHUAHUA arcs around the upper periphery, with a row of small six-pointed stars arranged along the lower field. The design is rendered in a bold, rustic style characteristic of provincial Mexican coinage of the mid-nineteenth century. |

| Reverse description | Central denomination fraction 1/8 inscribed within a wreath of two large palm or laurel branches tied at the base with a ribbon bow, the branches sweeping upward to frame the value. The date 1855 is placed below the fraction, within the lower portion of the wreath. The overall composition is plain and unadorned, with the wreath occupying the majority of the reverse field in a style typical of Mexican state copper coinage of the period. |
