Reverse description Within a beaded inner circle, a large bold numeral '8' dominates the central field, with the abbreviated denomination 'REAL' inscribed below in capital letters. The circular legend DEPARTAMENTO DE DURANGO arcs across the upper portion, while the date and octavo (8°) designation with flanking stars appear in the lower segment of the legend band. The design is austere and functional, characteristic of Mexican state copper fractional coinage of the 1840s.
