| Obverse description | Central design depicts a stylized mountain or volcanic peak flanked by two large leafy trees, all set within a plain field. The peripheral legend reads DEPARTAMENTO DE ZACATECAS encircling the upper portion, with the date appearing to the right. Below the central motif, the denomination OCTAVO is inscribed in bold letters, separated by small star ornaments. The design is rendered in low relief, consistent with the provincial copper coinage of mid-19th century Mexico. |
