Obverse description Central device depicting a stylized castle or tower set within a radiating sunburst of multiple diverging rays, symbolizing progress and civic pride. The design is rendered in low relief with a somewhat crude, hand-crafted aesthetic typical of Mexican municipal emergency coinage of the mid-19th century. A circular legend surrounds the central motif along the periphery of the field. The overall strike is irregular, consistent with primitive casting techniques employed by provincial mints of the period.
