Obverse description Central shield displaying the coat of arms of Costa Rica, flanked and supported by a laurel and oak wreath. The shield is surmounted by a liberty cap and flanked by five stars representing the five provinces. A curved legend arcs above along the rim, and the date appears in the lower exergue area.
