Obverse description Central field bearing the Persian legend of the Mughal emperor Shah Alam II in two curved registers separated by a foliate dividing band, with the regnal year in Arabic-Persian numerals prominently displayed in the upper register. The inscription reads the royal titles and name of the emperor in flowing Nasta'liq script. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border running along the coin's circumference, characteristic of Bengal Presidency gold coinage of the late 18th century.
