| Obverse description | A three-masted VOC-style sailing ship under full sail occupies the central field, depicted in left profile riding stylized waves, rendered in fine engraved detail. The ship is enclosed within an inner beaded circle, with the date 1802 inscribed below in the lower arc. The circumferential legend INDIAE BATAVORUM curves around the outer border, separated from the inner circle by a plain margin. The overall composition reflects the Dutch colonial maritime tradition characteristic of Netherlands East Indies coinage of the period. |

The circumferential Latin legend MO · ARG · ORD · FŒD · BELG · HOL, punctuated by dots and a six-pointed star, runs around the outer border, abbreviating the Latin formula for 'Silver coinage of the federated Belgian-Dutch provinces, Holland.' The coin exhibits attractive iridescent toning on the fields. |
