| Obverse description | The arms of Lucerne occupy the central field: the distinctive divided shield bearing the city's characteristic pale (vertical bar) within an ornamented cartouche flanked by elaborate baroque scrollwork. The date 1725 appears at the top of the field, integrated into the circular Latin legend. The circumferential legend MON NOVA REIP LVCERNEN runs around the periphery, separated from the inner design by a plain inner ring. The overall composition is rendered in a confident late-baroque style typical of early eighteenth-century Swiss cantonal coinage. |
