| Obverse description | Irregularly shaped hammered copper flan bearing a cursive Arabic legend in the field, struck in the characteristic style of the Gujarat Sultanate copper coinage. The inscription, rendered in a somewhat crude but legible Naskh-influenced script, occupies the majority of the flat field. Heavy patination and surface corrosion are present, consistent with prolonged circulation and burial. The design is typical of the small-denomination falus coinage struck under Ahmad Shah I, with no decorative border evident. |

Ahmad Shah I founded Ahmedabad in 1411, just one year into his reign, relocating the Gujarat Sultanate's capital from Patan and initiating a building program that would define the city for centuries. The copper fractional coinage of his reign — including this smallest denomination — was produced to serve the dense local bazaar economy that his new capital rapidly generated. The 1/8 falus saw hard daily use and survivors in any discernible condition are scarce.
