| Obverse description | Irregular hammered flan bearing multiple lines of Arabic script in the field, reading the titles and name of Sultan Mahmud II. The legends are arranged in horizontal registers across the coin face, with the word 'Sultan' prominent in the upper portion. A dotted border runs along the inner edge of the coin, characteristic of Algerian hammered coinage of the Ottoman period. The script is bold and deeply struck, typical of the regency mint style. |

Beneath this, the mint name and the Hijri date appear in successive lines, with the date reading in Eastern Arabic numerals consistent with the years AH 1225–1235. A floral sprig device appears to the right of the central inscription, and the overall composition is enclosed within a beaded border following the irregular coin outline. |
