Obverse description Round zinc coin with a central square hole, characteristic of traditional cash-style coinage. The circular legend PROTECTORAT DU TONKIN arcs around the upper periphery, with the date 1905 positioned at the base of the field. The lettering is incuse-relief in Latin script, evenly spaced around the square central perforation. The overall design is plain and functional, with no additional decorative elements in the field.
